The Shonda Rhimes pilot based on the real-life professional crisis fixer Judy Smith, In Crisis, has just found its two stars; Kerry Washington will play the lead character and fictionally named Olivia Price while Columbus Short will play a lawyer on her team. In real life, Smith, an A-list crisis manager, counseled both Monica Lewinsky and DC Mayor Marion Barry during their high profiled scandals.

Actor Columbus Short may be the man to portray the real boss of LA’s crack cocaine trade in the 1980’s, Donnell “Freeway” Ricky Ross.

Short, known for his roles in Stomp The Yard and Armoured was recently spotted meeting with Ross at Earle’s Hot Dogs on Crenshaw boulevard in Cali to discuss The Rick Ross Story.
Donnell is on a mission to reform and a video segment he informs Columbus briefly about what his life entailed bringing drugs into the Black community.

Though the audio isn’t too distinct, you can see the chemistry developing and Short’s desire to know more about the world of Freeway Ricky.

The film is written by Nick Cassevetes, writer of Blow and Alpha Dog, it touches on the rise of Ricky Ross and his role as a pawn in the CIA’s plan to fund other operations with cocaine profit.

Ross is also working on an autobiography and believes that even though he looked to gangbangers as an influence in the past, people should “Do things the way they want and be their own role models.”

The Irish star, 34, was back on the prowl on Sept. 24. He was spotted cozying up to 27-year-old model Agyness Deyn at NYC’s Bungalow 8. “Colin hit on several girls before giving his number to Agyness,” says a source. “They started talking in an intimate booth — and eventually began making out before leaving together. He obviously wasn’t thinking about Alicja.”

And she’s moved on as well, to her hunky The Girl Is in Trouble costar Columbus Short. “He’s been showering Alicja with attention,” says a pal. “But she’s still sad about how things have turned out with Colin.”

“Stomp the Yard” (2007)

After the death of his brother, an expert street dancer (Columbus Short) goes to Georgia to attend Truth University — and learns to stomp!

Jesse Spencer (Fox’s “House”) and Wilmer Valderrama (”The Dry Land”) also have joined the cast.

Spike Lee is an executive producer on the noirish drama, which begins shooting next week in New York. The project was selected for the Tribeca Film Institute’s All Access program this year as part of its narrative film roster.

In the story, a Lower East Side bartender becomes entangled in a murder mystery involving a desperate woman, a missing drug dealer and the scion of a powerful investment firm. Mayuran Tiruchelvam co-wrote the script with Onah.

Jen Gatien, Robert Profusek and Ryan Silbert are producing the film.

Repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Short recently appeared in “The Losers,” “Armored,” “Death at a Funeral,” “Whiteout,” “Quarantine” and “Stomp the Yard.”

Three years after “Stomp the Yard” shook up theaters and became a bonafide hit, a sequel is finally on the way. Like its predecessor, “Stomp the Yard: Homecoming” centers on a student at Truth University (Terrence J from BET’s “106 & Park”),who must overcome personal obstacles to win the national step-up title. And like the first one, which featured appearances by hip-hop luminary Ne-Yo, this one brings aboard another big-name rapper in David Banner. Actors Columbus Short, Keith David, Pooch Hall, Kiely Williams and “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant “tWitch” also appear.
